Woman murdered

TIRUCHI: A 45-year old woman, Saroja, was murdered allegedly by her neighbour following a dispute over a vacant space between their houses at Vadakku Neikuppai near Samayapuram on Saturday. Police have secured one Duraimanickam for the murder. Sources here said that Duraimanickam allegedly attacked Saroja with a sharp weapon when she came out of her house on Saturday morning.

Prohibitory order

The Commissioner of Police Shankar Jiwal has issued an order prohibiting assemblies, meetings, processions, agitations and demonstrations for a period of 15 days from 9 a.m. on May 3 to 9 a.m. on May 18 for preserving peace , a release said.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 75.60 feet against its full level of 120 feet on Saturday.

The inflow was 1,278 cusecs and the discharge, 1,500 cusecs.
