Twenty-four squads will be on duty in the city

  • There are 73 centres in Bangalore
  • A total of 23,515 candidates are from Karnataka

BANGALORE: Twenty-four examination squads will be on duty in the city to monitor the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK)'s Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET) on Sunday for admission to the 888 medical, 776 dental and 9,063 engineering seats under management quota in the professional colleges attached to the consortium.

The One Man Regulatory Authority overseeing professional college admissions will also send its squads to the centres, 73 of which are located in Bangalore and 32 outside the city.

The consortium has generated a red alert list for every test centre. "The list is based on suspicions of candidates with smudged photographs and other fabrication. To boost security, the question papers will be sent to the test centres in steel boxes sealed twice," COMEDK executive secretary S. Kumar told The Hindu. Students will be allowed to carry the question booklets and carbon copies of the OMR sheets only 10 minutes before the final bell for each examination, Dr. Kumar said. The answer keys will be put up on Sunday evening on the COMEDK website (www.comedk.org) .

On Sunday, the physics and chemistry examinations will be conducted from 10 a.m. to noon. The biology paper will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The mathematics examination is scheduled to be held between 3.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m.

Of the registered non-Karnataka candidates, 10,820 are from Bihar, 7,020 from Andhra Pradesh and 6,213 from Jharkhand. There is one candidate each from Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshwadeep. A total of 23,515 candidates are from Karnataka.
