Murder accused hacked to death

BANGALORE: A man with criminal antecedents was hacked to death in Nelamangala police station limits in Bangalore Rural district on Friday night.

The police gave his name as Lokesh (22). Around 9 p.m., armed men attacked him with swords and choppers at Chikkabidarukallu, killing him on the spot. The police said Lokesh was accused in the murder of a gangster in Subramanyanagar police station limits in the city. The Nelamangala police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the assailants.

Two killed

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents since Friday night. The police said Subramani (22) of Devanahalli was killed when a lorry hit his motorcycle at the Ramamurthynagar Ring Road junction around 1 p.m. on Friday. The K.R. Puram traffic police seized the lorry and arrested the driver.

Krishnappa (42) of C.D. Hoskote village was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from Anekal police station limits on Saturday.

The police said that around 8 a.m. a car hit Krishnappa's motorcycle and Nanjamma, a pedestrian, near T. Hosahalli and sped away. A seriously injured Nanjamma has been admitted to NIMHANS. The Anekal police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the car and its driver.

Recovered

The Fraser Town police arrested three persons on charges of theft and recovered from them 16 mobile phones, together worth Rs. 1.7 lakh.

The arrested were identified as Muktiyar Ahmed (22) of J.C. Nagar and Aslam Baig (50) and Riyaz Pasha (46) of Shampura.

In another case, the Subramanyapura police arrested two persons on charges of theft and recovered from them gold ornaments and mobile phones, all worth Rs. 90,000.

The police gave the names of the arrested as Ramesh (18) and Basavaraj (19) of Konanakunte.

The accused had stolen the valuables through open windows from three houses in Shreyas Colony, Suprajanagar and Ganapathinagar, the police said.

Arrested

The Central police on Friday night arrested five people who were allegedly planning to commit dacoity.

The police seized swords and choppers from the six who had gathered near Sitapathi Agrahara in New Tharagupet, the police said.
