This Day That Age
Most of the Ministers in the Kerala Government would not draw more than Rs.350 per month as salary, although the proposed legislation on the subject fixes their salary at Rs.500. This was disclosed by Mr. A.K. Gopalan, MP, in Poona. He said most of the Ministers in the Kerala Government had written to the Chief Minister, Mr. E.M.S. Nambudiripad, stating their intention to draw only Rs.350 by way of salary. To expose the false propaganda of "increase in violence" in Kerala, the State Government had offered to the Opposition parties to appoint a non-official enquiry committee to go into the alleged violence after the formation of the Communist Ministry. Surprisingly enough neither the Congress nor the other Opposition parties had accepted the offer.
