Collector warns officials on `Indiramma'

Kakinada: East Godavari Collector M. Subrahmanyam has warned officials of stern action, if found in third party inspection that they selected the ineligible as beneficiaries under the Indiramma scheme. Addressing the district coordination committee meeting here on Sunday, he advised officials to look into all the individual applications received from people before finalising, under the second round of Indiramma scheme and submit the eligible beneficiaries' list by May 15. Pointing out that two types of programmes -- individual l and community-based -- were being taken up under the scheme, the Collector said construction of link roads, school buildings and anganwadi buildings, drinking water schemes would come under the community-based works.

Similarly, under the individual works category, he said, construction of houses, individual latrines, pensions, electricity connection at Rs.125 would be taken up.

Under the second round of the scheme, the district Collector said, from both urban and rural areas put together, 88,650 applications were received for pensions, 1.50 lakh applications for houses and house sites, 1.04 lakh applications for individual latrines.

In towns, the Collector said 19,784 applications were received for tap connections and 74,936 applications for electricity connections under the scheme.
