PANAJI: The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) will send a proposal to the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to reduce the number of subjects for higher secondary students under the NCERT from six to five. This was decided at a panel discussion on "Change in education for higher secondary education in Goa," organised by the GCCI on Friday. It was overwhelmingly felt that the higher secondary students could do without an additional language subject. K.K. Nadkarni, Director of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, said the proposal would be put up in the next executive council meeting. It was decided that the Director of Education would be contacted to decide on a time-table for scheduling the examinations slightly earlier and regarding training of teachers.
