SACRED EVENT: The annual feast of the Saint Paul Methodist Church was celebrated in Bidar.
Bidar: The annual feast of the century-old Saint Paul Methodist Church was celebrated in Bidar on Sunday. The three-day festivities attracted large crowds from across the district and from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. People from different faiths also took part in the celebration. Various sports events were organised as part of the festival and a film show organised on the first day was a huge hit among children.
Rally
A rally was organised from the Methodist English Church in Shivanagar to the Saint Paul church in Mangalpet. Members of the Rashtriya Christian Hitarakshana Samiti participated in the rally. Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur, MLC Basavaraj Patil Humnabad, samiti president Josheph Koddikar and others were present.
Prayers
A special mass prayer was organised and spiritual leaders from Bangalore and Hyderabad delivered special lectures on the occasion. Music from the choir filled the Karanja valley behind the church. A number of stalls were put up in front of the church. These provided a great shopping experience for children who are in the middle of their summer holiday. The feast ended with the faithful offering prayers to the Sun in the cave in Mirzapur village on Sunday evening.
