BERHAMPUR: Boys' team from Bhubaneswar and girls' team from Puri won the eleventh state level junior softball tournament. This two-day tournament organised at the Khallikote autonomous college stadium of the city concluded on Sunday evening. In the boys' final the Bhubaneswar team competed with the team from Puri for championship trophy. Bhubaneswar team emerged winner with the score 4-0.
Rourkela thrashed
In women's event the final watch was played between teams from Puri and Rourkela. Girls from Puri were the victors as they defeated their rivals 13-0. Hundreds of youngsters from schools and colleges of the city gathered up at the stadium to enjoy the softball finals as this game is fast picking up among the youth in the city. Union minister of state for rural development, Chadrasekhar Sahu gave away the trophies to the winning teams at a function held in the evening. Eight girls' teams and 14 boys' teams from 20 districts of Orissa had taken part in this two-day tournament organised by the Ganjam Softball association. For the first time a State level tournament of softball was organised in the city as well as south Orissa. The host Ganjam team managed to get the third position in the boys' group.
