Kenyan plane wreckage yet to be located
Nairobi:
Rescuers are still searching for the wreckage of the Kenyan Airways aircraft Boeing 737-800 that crashed early on Saturday in Cameroon with 114 people on board, 15 of them Indians.
Amol S. Chauhan, director of biscuit manufacturer Parle, is among the Indians missing. The Centre on Sunday issued a list of the Indian passengers:
B. Madhusudan, Poojita Madhusudan, Bhagya Madhusudan, Kevin Joseph Jude, Shirly Nigli, Gracey Manuel, Maria Joseph, Aman Gaur, Nalakath Gireesan, George Joseph Kocherry, Meera Shah, Inder Deep, Prakash Sundaram and David Kenneth John, besides Amol Chauhan.
The seven Europeans aboard included a British Nairobi-based correspondent for the Associated Press news agency.
The aircraft originally took off from the Ivory Coast city of Abidjan and made an interim stop at Douala in Cameroon before taking off again shortly after midnight on its way to Nairobi. Within 15 minutes of takeoff, the plane sent out an emergency signal and contact was lost after that.
