BHOPAL: Many people from different walks of life in Bhopal went full throttle, bursting into peels of laughter here on Sunday, as the onlookers joined them to have a hearty laugh marking the World Laughter Day.

Grandmas, Grandpas, children and adolescents all enjoyed rounds of hearty laugh , wearing small crowns and making sounds with kids' toys during this special get together on road.

Many of them were driving their two-wheelers carrying the message of laughter all around on Sunday morning.

Most of them strongly believed that laughter played a significant role in reducing risk of depression and high blood pressure, especially among women.

``Women suffer from depression and high blood pressure. So, I want to give the message to women on the World Laughter Day that they should laugh. So, all will be happy at home and outside,'' said Lata Devi, a resident of Bhopal.

Others opined that laughter keeps them healthy and therefore, it is the best to rid oneself of tension with it.

``People should remain happy. And we should lead the life happily that God has given us,'' said Mahendra Singh, another participant.

Celebrating the World Laughter Day was conceived in 1998 by Dr. Madan Kataria, the formulator of the Laughter Yoga movement.

The World Laughter Day is held on the first Sunday of May every year and several people gather worldwide to laugh together.

There are over 5,000 laughter clubs spread across the globe on five Continents. A couple of them have formedHumour Club International in Bangalore.
