Exercise to prepare food insecurity report begins

JAIPUR: An exercise to prepare a Food Insecurity State Report for Rajasthan with analysis at the district level began here over the week-end with a call to strengthen policy intervention for ensuring food security for rural, pastoral and migrant communities.

The Institute for Human Development, New Delhi, is carrying out research to prepare food insecurity reports for various States in collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). As part of the study, each State will have consultation to share draft findings prior to their finalisation.

Experts attending the first consultation at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) here said the issues relating to food security and livelihood needed urgent attention in the desert State in view of vulnerability of some sections of population, such as tribals and Dalits.
