Health workshop for Councillors

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi organised a workshop at Town Hall here over the weekend to sensitise Councillors about the important public issues of health and environment. Nearly 250 Councillors took part in the daylong workshop.

Addressing the participants, Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan said more emphasis should be laid on preventive measures. "To achieve the goal of `Health for All' we have to concentrate on prevention, positive health attitude and yoga," added Dr. Vardhan.

Students exchange programme

NEW DELHI: Ansal Institute of Technology in Gurgaon has entered into a tie-up with Eastern Michigan University, United States, for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Business Management and Information Systems. Under the arrangement, EMU will accept students from AIT under transfer of credits scheme with provision of scholarships. Students of AIT who successfully complete six semesters' broad-based programmes at the undergraduate level are eligible to transfer their credits into full time degree programmes of Business School of EMU. Eastern Michigan University is a public, comprehensive university that offers programmes in arts, sciences and professions.

Blood donation camp organised

NEW DELHI: A blood and organ donation camp was organised at Army Base Hospital here this past week under the aegis of the Army Wives Welfare Association. The camp was organised to promote awareness among all ranks about the usefulness of donating blood and organs. The camp was inaugurated by Delhi AWWA president Vandana Oberoi.

Nearly 220 personnel donated blood at the camp and over 120 personnel and their wives pledged to donate their organs. A health education campaign on blood donation and its benefits was also launched at the camp.

Award presented

NEW DELHI: Atul Bagai, an IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has won the "2007 Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award" instituted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The award was presented to him at Washington DC over the weekend. The award citation praised the "leadership and innovation of Mr. Bagai", who is at present working as Regional Network Coordinator, Compliance Assistance Programme, Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. It said the programme has benefited 38 countries of Asia and the Pacific region .
