`Chempeduppu' ceremony at Chandanappally on Tuesday

PATHANAMTHITTA: The `Chempeduppu' ceremony, part of the annual festival at St. George Orthodox Church, popularly known as Chandanappally Valiyapally, will be held at Chandanappally, near here, on Tuesday.

Malankara Metropolitan and Catholicos of the East Baselius Mar Thoma Didymos-I will lead the tri-mass at the church at 8.30 a.m. Catholicos Designate Paulose Mar Milithios will preside over the pilgrims' meet to be held on the church premises at 11 a.m. Deputy Speaker Jose Baby will inaugurate the meeting.

Thomas Mar Athanasios, Geevarghese Mar Koorilos and Thomas Mar Athanasios will deliver the benedictory speeches. District Collector Ashok Kumar Singh will inaugurate the church's social service project, `Thanal.' Captain Raju, actor; T.K. Alex, Padmashri award winner; Fr. Johns Abraham Konatt, clergy trustee of the Malankara Orthodox Church; and M.G. George Muthoott, lay trustee; will address the meeting. The `Chempeduppu' procession will be held at 4 p.m.
