BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has decided to open Plus Two science colleges in all Eklabya residential schools meant for students belonging to Scheduled Tribes in the State. The students could take admission from the academic season of 2007-2008. At present, the State is having 10 Eklabya schools, which are sponsored under central government schemes. The Government had earlier opened Plus Two science colleges in three Eklabya schools, the rest seven residential schools would be taken up this time, official sources said. The residential schools which was selected for the introduction of Plus Two science colleges included Lahunipada and Laing in Sundargarh district, Hirili in Nawarangpur, Mahasingi in Kandhamal, Chandragiri in Gajapati, Rahanki in Keonjhar and Siriguda in Raygada district. Earlier, Plus Two colleges were opened in Dhanghera Residential High School in Mayurbhanj district, Bhawanipur in Sundargarh and Pungar in Koraput district. Initially, every college will have 60 seats each, with equal numbers of seats reserved for girls and boys. The expenditure will be borne by centre, an official of ST and SC Welfare Department said.
