New Delhi: After a legal battle spanning over 13 years, a court here has sentenced a man to one-and-half years rigorous imprisonment for rash and negligent driving. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjeev Jain also slapped a fine of Rs 11,500 on 34-year-old Ram Pravesh. According to the prosecution, Pravesh caused the death of Head Constable Mool Chand (50) and injured Constable Rajinder (42) while driving his commercial vehicle along Desh Bandhu Gupta Road in Karol Bagh here on January 27, 1994. Pravesh was convicted under various sections of the IPC including sections 279 (causing death by negligence) and 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life). PTI
