Delhi's Principal Secretary (Power) Rakesh Mehta launched the programme in the presence of Residents' Welfare Association representatives and participating officials of DTL, TERI and discoms.

The programme's objective is to conduct a survey of electricity consumers in these areas to get information about the present ownership and usage pattern of electrical appliances and penetration of energy efficient appliances.

The programme is aimed at assessing the willingness on the part of consumers to shift from existing appliances to more energy efficient ones. It also intends to get an estimate of the kind of incentives required to induce them to shift to more efficient appliances and to off-peak timings.
