SAT issue: FRAT seeks stern action

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The Federation of Residents Associations, Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT) has urged the Government to take stern action against those responsible for the death of newborns at the SAT Hospital.

Timely action

In a press note, FRAT president T.K. Bhasakara Panicker and general secretary Paraniyam Devakumar said the failure on the part of the authorities to take timely action had led to the tragic death of so many infants.

The federation highlighted the need for an action plan to clean up Government hospitals and their premises and to ensure that labour rooms, operation theatres and intensive care units were periodically disinfected.

Pledges support

"The private sector would thrive on the failure of Government hospitals to ensure basic safeguards," they said.

The federation pledged full support to the Government to maintain basic standards in the health sector.
