Kumaravyasa Bharata launched in CD format

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Gadugina Narayanappa's Kumaravyasa Bharata in CD format brought out by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was released here on Sunday by the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda.

Speaking after releasing the CDs, Mr. Deve Gowda said that today's society was interested in securing things at any cost, while it ignored truth, justice and fairness, all embodied in the Mahabharata.

Commenting on the employment guarantee scheme of the Union Government, he said that there is nothing new in the scheme and money would be wasted. As much as 60 per cent to 70 per cent of the money earmarked for the scheme being introduced at a cost of Rs. 1.4 lakh crore will be wasted, he added.

Referring to terrorism, he said, "Unemployed youth are taking to armed struggled due to administrative lapses and youth have been misguided." Though employment cannot be provided to all, the Government should play the role of a facilitator, he added. Earlier, Chairman of Karnataka Gana Kala Parishat G. Narayana urged Mr. Deve Gowda to secure land in the city to help Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan expand in view of the city's growth.

Vidwan Hosahally Keshavamurthy has recited Kavya Vachana and Mathoor Krishnamurti has rendered Kavya Vyakhyana. The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan had earlier released 200 cassettes, and following demand in India and abroad, Kumaravyasa Bharata has been released in the CD format.

Chairman of Lokashikshana Trust Harnalli Ramaswamy, Executive Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mathoor Krishnamurti and its Chairman N. Ramanuja were present.
