Junior Modern School `A' in sight of title

NEW DELHI: Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School `A' comprising Harshal Shahi, Harsh Bhatia, Devan Bansal and Swayam Bhatia took a 3.5-point lead over Modern School `A' in the under-10 section after the fourth and penultimate round of the Delhi State school team chess championships at the Kulachi Hans Raj School, Ashok Vihar, here on Monday.

DPS `A' in lead

In the under-15 category, the quartet of Gautam, Iqbal Singh, Meharjot Kals and Agamjot Kals helped Delhi Public School `A' (Mathura Road) take the lead with 12.5 points. In the under-19 section, Modern School (Vasant Vihar), represented by Yatin Sawhani, Madhav Malhotra, Adtiya Gupta and Rishab Jain, opened a two-point lead with a tally of 11.5 points.

Under-10: Fourth round: Sanskriti School (8.5) lost to RSJMS `A' (13.5) 1-3; DPS (RKP) (6.5) lost to Modern `A' (10) 1.5-2.5; Modern `B' (7.5) lost to DPS (MR) (10) 1-3; RSJMS `B' (6.5) drew with Amity International (6.5) 2-2; Modern `C' (0) lost to K.R. Mangalam World School (8) 0-4. Third round: RSJMS `A' bt Modern `B' 3.5-0.5; Amity International lost to Modern `A' 0.5-3.5; DPS (MR) bt DPS (RKP) 3-1; Mangalam World School lost to Sanskriti School 1-3; Modern `C' drew with RSJMS 2-2.

U-15: Fourth round: Amity International (11.5) bt Mangalam World School (10.5) 2.5-1.5; DPS `A' (MR) (12.5) bt Sanskriti School `A' (9.5) 3.5-0.5; Sanskriti `B' (10) bt Ryan International (9) 3-1; St. Mary's School (11) bt Sanskriti `C' (4.5) 4-0; Apeejay School (10) bt DPS (RKP) (5) 4-0; GHPS (India Gate) (3) lost to DPS (MR) `B' 0-4. Third round: Sanskriti `A' drew with Amity 2-2; Mangalam bt St. Mary's 3-1; Ryan bt Apeejay 3-1; DPS `A' (MR) bt GHPS (India Gate) 4-0; DPS `B' (MR) lost to Sanskriti `B' 1-3; Modern (BR) lost to DPS (RKP) 1-3; Modern (VV) lost to Sanskriti `C' 1.5-2.5.

U-19: Fourth round: Modern (VV) (11.5) bt Salwan `A' (8.5) 2.5-1.5; Bluebells International (9.5) drew with Sarvodaya Vidyalaya (9.5) 2-2; Salwan `B' (3) lost to DPS (RKP) (5) 1-3; Sankriti (9) bye. Third round: Bluebells lost to Modern (VV) 1-3; Sanskriti bt Salwan `A' 2.5-1.5; Sarvodaya (4) bt Salwan `B' 4-0; DPS (RKP) bye.
