No Chinese incursion, says Minister

New Delhi: The Centre on Monday refuted reports of Chinese troops making "an incursion" into Arunachal Pradesh. Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju denied that China had "discreetly grabbed" a portion of the Indian land.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an Assocham function, he said, "no such serious issue has arisen."

Later, a Defence Ministry spokesman described the reports as "misrepresentation."

Reaction

The Ministry was responding to allegations made by Kiven Rijiju, BJP member from west Arunachal Pradesh, that Chinese forces had moved 20 km inside Indian territory and occupied large tracts of land in the Sumdorong Chu Valley, Aspalia and Lungar Car areas.
