BANGALORE: Hundreds of Common Entrance Test (CET) candidates and their parents thronged the CET Cell here on Monday to complete the application formalities, which they had missed by oversight.

While many had forgotten to put their thumb impressions on the forms, some had even forgotten to paste their photographs.

The CET website (http://kar.nic.in/cet) had put up a list of 138 candidates, who had failed to affix their thumb impression.

Large groups of candidates kept the CET officials busy right through Monday.

With the entrance test scheduled for Wednesday, the candidates had very little time to get everything in order.

Meanwhile, the CET Cell began despatching the question paper booklets to the examination centres located outside Bangalore. A total of 149 examination centres are situated outside the city and 56 centres within.

The Cell officials said the hall tickets had been sent to all candidates.

To boost security in and around the examination centres, the CET would have about 600 squads conducting surprise raids and monitoring the centres to prevent malpractice.

The District Deputy Commissioners will send an observer to every centre in their respective districts. In all, there will be two-member squads and an observer in each centre. Besides, flying squads and policemen in mufti will keep a close watch on the proceedings.

    Police help sought

The Cell has sent letters to the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police to ensure sufficient police presence in all the centres across the State.
