58 more properties sealed in Capital

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Monday sealed 58 more commercial premises operating from residential premises in violation of mixed land use norm.

The civic body's sealing squads targeted 27 illegal commercial premises in the trans-Yamuna area, while 11 properties each were sealed at Shardapuri in West Zone and on Rajapuri Road in Najafgarh Zone. Two properties each were targeted on Jahangirpuri Road in Civil Lines Zone and Rohini Sector-3. Five properties were sealed at Khanpur in South Zone.

March to Parliament by Anganwadi workers

NEW DELHI: The All-India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers (AIFAWH) will take out a march to Parliament on Tuesday demanding implementation of assurances given by the Prime Minister to anganwadi workers last year.

Anganwadi workers from across the country are expected to take part in the march.

A meeting will be held at Jantar Mantar where CITU president M. K. Pandhe and CITU secretary Tapan Sen and other leaders will address the workers.

DUTA office-bearers meet Thorat

NEW DELHI: Delhi University Teachers' Association office-bearers met University Grants Commission Chairman Sukhdeo Thorat on Monday, demanding that all teachers who superannuated before March 15 this year and have not attained the age of 65 be re-employed till they attain that age. "The UGC Chairman assured us that he would place our demands before the meeting of the full Commission," said DUTA president Amar Deo Sharma in a statement later.

Public relations office opened at Rohini Jail

NEW DELHI: A public relations office at Rohini Jail here was inaugurated by Director-General (Prisons) B. K. Gupta this past week. To eliminate unauthorised entry and prevent smuggling in of banned articles, the office is equipped with hand-held and door-frame metal detectors and an X-ray scanner.

A single tele-booking number with jumping facility has been installed for registration of meetings between visitors and inmates.

Cultural programme

NEW DELHI: A cultural programme was organised at the Gujarat Resident Commissioner's office here this past week to mark the State's 48th Foundation Day. Renowned artists from the State performed during the event.
