CHENNAI: Actor Gowthami and actor Kamal Haasan's daughters — Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan — were among those who turned up the other day for the launch of the website www.evestimesonline.com.

U.S. Consul General David T. Hopper formally launched the site. Website Editor Swati Amar said the Eves Times Group was started by a group of women writers and social activists.

Interactive format

"Today we can make choices about everything, including what we want to read, listen and see. The site will offer an interactive format to the users to make a choice of bringing about positive changes in their lives and in their city," she said.

Tie-up with experts

The site has tied up with experts in various fields to offer counsel on law and order, consumer problems, legal and social concerns, medical issues, investment strategies, conjugal relations, family interactions, diet, fitness and cookery.

The portal and print version will offer a wide range of views on civic sense, contemporary societal issues and personal problems.

The focus is also on youth with a page, TeenMag, exclusively for them and containing entertainment and information features.

Professional set-up

According to Ms. Amar, the effort is to stress upon professionalism in writing, marketing, space selling and all aspects of journalism. "We would like to change the belief that only sensationalism is read. We are working towards establishing a professional set-up with a full-fledged corporate approach," she said.

Usha Subramaniam, writer, said the portal offered an interactive platform for exchange of views, voicing opinions and seeking expert counsel on various topics.

Priyadarshini Govind, danseuse, highlighted the importance of incorporating art in everyone's lives as a route to inner peace and harmony. Bhavanishankar, principal Chettinad Vidyashram, participated.
