MANGALORE: No major cases of harassment of women at work places have been reported in Dakshina Kannada in the recent times, said B. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada, here on Monday. He was speaking at a seminar jointly organised by Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority and Department of Labour as part of Labour Day celebrations at the office of Kanara Small Industries' Association. Mr. Dayananda said that the only incident that was reported so far was by a schoolteacher who complained against harassment by members of the school management sometime ago. During inquiry it was revealed that they wanted the services of the teacher discontinued, as the management was not pleased with her performance. Police cautioned the management against indulging in such acts. The case was settled immediately. No other case of harassment of women at work places was reported in the district. He said the awareness level of women in the district had increased in the recent years. N.S. Mamadapura, First Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division), Mangalore and H. Gopala Gowda, Labour Officer, sub-division two, Dakshina Kannada, spoke.
