NEW DELHI: Five persons allegedly using stolen secret codes of credit cards to buy air tickets through the Internet have been arrested by the Palam police here. The airport police received a complaint from Bharat Kumar Mahi this past week alleging that someone had bought air tickets worth Rs. 22,396 through his credit card using its secret code numbers. After verifying the facts from the bank's customer care cell, he rushed to Palam airport and informed the police and the airline officials about it. Enquiries revealed that three air tickets had been bought through the Internet using his credit card number for a flight from Kolkata to Delhi. Subsequently a trap was laid at the airport and Shyama Nanda Singh, his wife Chittralekha and their child -- who were travelling on those tickets -- were intercepted. During interrogation, Shyama purportedly disclosed that he had bought the tickets from his friend Konthujam Ishwar Chander Singh, who had a residence at Mahipalpur here. The police mounted a raid and arrested Konthujam, from whom a laptop and a mobile phone allegedly used in the commission of crime were recovered. Konthujam, who belongs to Manipur, purportedly disclosed that he came to Delhi two years ago and learnt the tricks of e-ticketing fraud from one Thomas.
Konthujam roped in three persons, Shubh Nath Jha, Saroj Singh and Jitender, who worked as documents collectors on a commission basis for different banksA police team led by Inspectors Jagpal Singh and Dinesh Kumar tracked down the other three accused and arrested
