NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old man who allegedly murdered his three accomplices last month following a dispute over distribution of money earned through fraudulent means has been arrested at Srinivaspuri here by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. The police claim to have recovered a .9 mm pistol from him. Acting on a tip-off that a person wanted in connection with the murder of a Ghaziabad-based property dealer had been spotted in the Capital, a special team of the Crime Branch developed intelligence and learnt that the suspect would come near a "dargah" at Srinivaspuri to meet some of his accomplices on May 3. The suspect arrived at the rendezvous point in a Ford Ikon car when the police surrounded his vehicle. The suspect allegedly fired at the police in a bid to escape. However, he was overpowered. During interrogation, he identified himself as Paras Soni, a resident of Faridabad in Haryana. He purportedly disclosed that he along with his accomplices Shiv Kumar, Neeraj and Naresh purchased vehicles on finance and obtained personal loans on forged papers. Through this modus operandi, the gang allegedly cheated several banks of lakhs of rupees. However, a dispute over money distribution recently led to a fight between them. One day Shiv, Neeraj and Naresh allegedly manhandled Paras in their office and also humiliated his family members. This infuriated Paras and he purportedly decided to take revenge. On April 25, Paras called Naresh to Seemapuri on the pretext of giving him money. Naresh, who was under the influence of drugs, reached Paras' office. Paras then took him to Dasna in Uttar Pradesh saying that the money had to be collected from there. As they reached the Massoori canal, Paras stopped and allegedly fired twice at Naresh killing him on the spot. Paras then threw the body into the canal. The next day, Paras allegedly asked Neeraj to meet him at Seemapuri and offered him juice laced with drugs. Then Paras took him to the Massoori canal, allegedly shot him in the head and threw the body into the canal. His next target was Shiv Kumar. Paras allegedly shot at him from close range near Shiv's Sahibabad residence on April 26. Shiv rushed inside the house but Paras followed him and allegedly fired another round, killing him.
