35-year-old autorickshaw driver found murdered

BANGALORE: A 35-year-old man was found murdered in the Dhobhi Ghat in Kempegowda Nagar police station limits in the early hours of Monday.

The police said the victim Chandrashekhar, an autorickshaw driver and a resident of Brindavanagar, has been attacked with machetes.

A washerman who came to the ghat noticed the body and informed the police.

Killed in accident

Two pedestrians and a cyclist were killed in separate accidents in the city.

Ramesh (24) of Bihar, who was residing at Valmikinagar, was knocked down by a passenger vehicle near Lakshmi Saw Mill in Hosaguddadahalli off Mysore Road on Sunday. He died at Victoria hospital.

Another pedestrian, aged 25, was killed on the spot when a car hit him on Airport Road near Marathahalli junction in the early hours of Monday.

The body has been shifted to Bowring Hospital mortuary.

Bing Joshi, a resident of Malleshapalya was killed on the spot when a lorry knocked down the bicycle he was riding near Durga Resorts in Indiranagar traffic police limits. His body has been shifted to Bowring Hospital mortuary.

Robbed

Four unidentified persons allegedly assaulted Vinaykumar (27) of Jeevan Bima Nagar near an apartment in J.B. Nagar police station limits and took away his mobile phone and a gold chain on Sunday night.

In another case, unidentified persons assaulted Hamunatharayappa near Malleswaram 18th Cross early on Monday and escaped with his mobile phone worth Rs. 2,000. He is an employee of BHEL factory, the police said.

Arrested

The Girinagar police arrested four youths who were allegedly conspiring to commit robbery.

The police said Annappa (21) of Hosakerehalli; Manjunath (21) and G. Ramesh (19) both of Cauverynagar, Banshankari II Stage; and Harish (21) of Muneshwara Block were armed with a knife and three iron rods and were reportedly planning to rob people near a playground in the vicinity of Manjunathaswamy Temple. They have been remanded in judicial custody. Their associate Nanjunda of Nagendra Block is at large.

Burglary

Thieves broke into four houses and escaped with cash, jewellery and electronic goods valued over Rs. 11 lakh when the occupants were away. Miscreants entered the house of Imtiyaz Ahmed in 4th Block Jayanagar on Sunday evening by breaking open a window and escaped with cash and valuables valued at Rs. 3 lakh.

Burglars gained entry into the flat of Balasubramanya in Sterling Apartment in 18th Cross Indiranagar and made away with Rs. 25,000 and electronic gadgets, valued at Rs. 2.5 lakh, the police said.

Thieves made away jewellery and other articles worth Rs. 3 lakh from the house of Pattamiya in Panduranganagar in J.P. Nagar police limits. Burglars entered the house of Tamarai Kannan, a software engineer, in Madiwala and made away with electronic gadgets worth Rs. 3 lakh.
