Chhattisgarh begins in style

NAWANSHAHR: Defending champion Chhattisgarh opened its campaign in style by beating Delhi 55-18 and Madhya Pradesh 50-34 in Pool `B' of the boys' section in the 34th National sub-junior basketball championship at the Kirpal Sagar Academy, Rahon.

In Pool `F', Tamil Nadu recorded a thrilling 47-44 victory over Maharashtra, while Kerala boys scored wins against Jharkhand (56-44) and Gujarat (32-22) in Pool `E'. In Pool `A', Rajasthan beat Andhra Pradesh 58-36 while Uttar Pradesh beat Haryana 48-24 in Pool `C'.

In the girls' section, Haryana beat Tamil Nadu 51-35 in Pool `B'.
