BEING BRIEFED: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy inspecting the works at the Central prison at Periyakalapet on Tuesday.
Puducherry : Chief Minister N Rangasamy inspected the work under way on construction of the new Rs 8.39 crore Central Prison at Periakalapet near here on Tuesday. Inspector General of Prisons S. Vasudeva Rao briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of the work. The Central prison, now located in the heart of a busy business centre in Jawaharlal Nehru Street in the town, will be shifted to the new premises after completion. The campus is coming up on a 36-acre site. The Chief Minister told newsmen that the central prison would have separate sections for men and women prisoners.
