HYDERABAD: Efforts are on to provide the necessary software to use Urdu in Government offices as second official language. Once these efforts are successful, the software will be supplied to the offices through the State Official Languages Commission. Announcing this here on Tuesday after a meeting with Chairman of the Official Languages Commission and Urdu Academy, Energy and Minorities Welfare Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir said district Collectors had been asked to take steps at least now ensure Urdu use in offices. He said he would shortly conduct a meeting with School Education Minister, and Chairman of the commission and the academy to discuss the level of focus that must be given to enable pupils to learn languages in schools. Official Languages Commission Chairman A.B.K. Prasad said he had addressed letters to Collectors asking them to appoint junior assistants and translators who were necessary to implement Urdu as second languages in Government offices.
