Maruti launches SX4 sedan

Special Correspondent

KOCHI: Maruti Udyog Limited On Tuesday launched SX4 sedan in the premium A3 segment in the State.

Talking to mediapersons, Ravi Bhatia, head of marketing division of the company, said that the SX4 sedan was being launched soon after Maruti Udyog completed its best year ever (2006-07) in terms of sales, financials, investment milestones and model launches.

Record success

The company's three new launches last year - WagonR Duo, Zen Estilo and Swift Diesel - achieved record success, he said.

With SX4 Sedan, Maruti Udyog would reinforce its presence in the A3 segment and enhance its leadership position.

In response to a question, he said that the company enjoyed 55 per cent market share in the country. In Kerala, about 11,000 cars were being sold each year in the A3 segment and the company expected to corner a major share of it. It also planned to phase out Baleno in course of time.

Upgrade option

Esteem and Baleno customers would now choose the SX4 as the next upgrade option, he said adding that customers who would like to own a Maruti Suzuki car, but moved to competitors because Maruti did not offer an A3 car to their liking, would choose the new sedan.

The sedan offers a music system integrated with the dashboard, with audio control on the steering wheels.

In addition, auto-climate control system provides comfort and convenience. The antenna is embedded in the glass, further enhancing aesthetics of the car, says a release.

An illuminated key insert and variable instrument illumination are among the other features of the SX4 sedan.

Showroom price

The ex-showroom price in Kochi is: SX4 Vxi Rs.6,31,000; SX4 Zxi Rs.7,02,000; SX4 Zxi leather Rs.7,37,000.

Meanwhile, Indus Motors Private Limited has become the number one dealer in the country with a sale of 22,786 Maruti cars in 2006-07.

The company bagged 11 awards at the dealers' conference in Athens, Greece.

P.V. Abdul Wahab, Rajya Sabha MP and chairman of Indus Motors, said it had extended its service from Kerala to Chennai and its target was to cover all the major cities in South India.
