NEW DELHI: A new book, "Agra: Rambles and Recollections of Thomas Smith", was launched at a function in India International Centre here over the weekend by the late author's son, R. V. Smith, and the publisher, Aloke Roy Chaudhury. Thomas Smith (1910-1995) wrote extensively on Agra during his 66 years as a journalist, representing The Statesman, The Englishman, the Times of India and other national newspapers and magazines along with the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency in Agra. The book brings out hidden facets of the city of the Taj that are not on the tourist circuit and are generally missed by visitors. It is the result of exhaustive research from 1928 to 1995, the year of Thomas Smith's death.
