VISAKHAPATNAM: The district recorded a 0.36 increase in the pass percentage in the 7th class Common Examination-2007, the results of which were released on Tuesday. A total of 59,857 candidates appeared for the examination which was held from April 16 to 23. Of them 51,351 appeared as regular students while the rest appeared privately. Spot valuation was conducted from April 27 to May 4. Chintapalli mandal in the agency area bagged the highest pass percentage of 99.43 while Visakhapatnam urban recorded the lowest of 87.26. The pass percent among boys is 93.84 and among girls it is 93.76. Candidates who wish to go for recounting of their marks have to pay Rs.100 for each subject, through a challan by June 10. The applications for recounting should be submitted through the respective headmasters to the District Education Office in the prescribed format. Applications received after June 10 would not be considered. The overall pass percentage in the district has registered an increase during the last three years. While it was 91.91 in 2005, it was 93.86 in 2006 and 94.22 (both regular and private) this year. The marks statements can be collected by the candidates from their schools after three or four days.
