Cheques given to families affected by rain

Staff Correspondent

MYSORE: The Mysore City Corporation (MCC) has distributed cheques to the families who were affected by the recent rains here. Minister in charge of Mysore G.T. Deve Gowda distributed the cheques to 215 people at a function in Town Hall here on Tuesday.

The families from Gayatripuram, Gousianagar, B.B. Keri, Gandhinagar, Eranagere, Medar Block, Usmania Block, Adi Pampa Road, Kesare and Giriyabovi, which, according to MCC officials, were the rain-affected localities, received aid of Rs. 1,75,400 from the Minister.

The recent heavy rain accompanied by high velocity winds had brought down or damaged houses of these residents.

Meanwhile, workers of City Corporation have launched the cleaning of storm water and small and medium-sized drains that are clogged due to the dumping of waste.
