Remove encroachment: TDP

Staff Reporter

`20 acres worth more than Rs. 50 cr. encroached in Kothachervu'

Patancheru (Medak): Telugu Desam Legislative Party leader N. Janardhan Reddy demanded that the Government remove encroachments in Kothachervu of Aminpur here in a week or face "direct action." A TDP team consisting of Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Nannapaneni Rajakumari and Kichannagari Lakshma Reddy and Aminpur sarpanch Sasikala Yadava Reddy visited Kothachervu on Tuesday. The TDP leaders interacted with the villagers and saw the extent of encroachment.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mr. Janardhan Reddy alleged that Congress leaders from Rayalaseema region had been terrorising the peasants of Medak and Rangareddy districts and resorting to large-scale `land grabbing.' He said that Panyam MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy too had a hand in the encroachment of Kothachervu. He said that 20 acres of land worth more than Rs. 50 crores had been illegally occupied by dumping tonnes of soil into the lake-bed.

He wondered how such an operation could escape the scrutiny of the district Collector and HUDA officials.
