WARANGAL : TRS leader and Hanamkonda MP B. Vinod Kumar urged the State Government to reduce the premium amount on the crop insurance policies. In a letter to the Chief Minister, he said that as the premium rates were very high for commercial crops like chilli and cotton, many farmers were not going for the crop insurance. This resulted in losses for them in times of crop damage. The MP urged the Government to bear the premium amounts on behalf of the farmers and give them crop insurance cover. The loans given to farmers should be displayed at the gram panchayat office in each village. He also alleged that till now the crop insurance claims were only settled in Rayalaseema and ignored in other regions.
