Railmen stage dharna

VIJAYAWADA: Demanding immediate release of interim relief, railway workers, led by Dakshina Madhya Railway Karmik Sangh (DMRKS), staged a dharna in front of the Divisional Railway Manager's office here on Tuesday. DMRKS organising secretary P.S. Subrahmanyam said that as per the fifth pay commission's recommendations, the railwaymen should get new scales from January 2006, by then the sixth pay commission that had to revise the pay scales was yet to be constituted. He said that non-paying of interim relief to employees was not justifiable. He demanded that an interim relief of Rs. 1,000 a month be paid immediately to the staff.
