SFI plea

Private medical colleges should not be allowed to run hospitals with the fees collected from students, the Students' Federation of India (SFI) has suggested to the Permanent Committee for Fixation of Fees in Self-Financing Professional Colleges.

It also opposed the Rs. 1.3 lakh per year fees fixed by the Justice A. Raman Committee and said the amount was beyond the reach of a middle class family.

Other recommendations of SFI include calculating the fees to be charged for infrastructure for MBBS and other course students together and not charging high fees for students admitted under government quota.
