NEW DELHI: A young man allegedly trying to frame a graphic designer under the Arms Act has been arrested at Saket here. The accused had earlier allegedly planted two country-made firearms at the victim's residence to get him arrested as he was having an affair with the girl that the accused was in love with. The police received a complaint from Anshu Bhatnagar, a resident of Saket, last October informing that a country-made firearm and four live cartridges were found lying in his house on the staircase leading up to the servant quarters. The police registered a case under the Arms Act and initiated investigations. Two months later, Anshu again called up the police informing that another country-made firearm and two live cartridges were found on the window canopy of his house. Though the police registered another case under the Arms Act, they suspected that someone was planting the weapons in Anshu's house. The local police were asked to keep a close watch on activities around Anshu's house. On Monday, the police spotted two persons trying to open the lock of the house. They were identified as Shakir, a key maker, and Rishi Chopra. Shakir told the police that Rishi had brought him there saying he had misplaced the original keys of his house. During interrogation, Rishi broke down and purportedly confessed to having planted the weapons. He disclosed that he was in love with the girl that Anshu was having an affair with. Rishi knew the girl since his school days. Later she began working with Anshu as a graphic designer.
Out of jealousy
Jealous of Anshu, Rishi allegedly planned to get him arrested in a false case. He allegedly bought three country-made firearms and live cartridges from Aligarh and planted two of them near Anshu's house. He was allegedly planning to plant the third firearm inside Anshu's house, when he was arrested.
