Plea to publish Smart City pact

Kochi: A public interest petition was filed on Tuesday before the Kerala High Court seeking a directive to the State Government to publish the details of agreement on the proposed Smart City here. The petition also sought to include in the agreement the clause for an enhanced compensation to the landowners. Meanwhile, Justice V. Ramkumar has directed the Revenue authorities not to dispossess by force as many as 25 families of their land in Kakkanad to be acquired for the development of Infopark. Achuthanandan's intervention sought

KOCHI : Kerala Congress (Secular) leader P.C. George has demanded that Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan intervene in the humanitarian issue of evicting people from Edachira for the Smart City project. The Chief Minister should take the initiative to properly rehabilitate them, since they had lost faith in the district administration, he said. — Staff Reporter

Power supply disruption

KOCHI: Power supply to Kendriya Vidyalaya, new market, Karshaka Road and Fire Station will be disrupted on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. owing to line-repair work, the Girinagar office of the KSEB said.

Order deplored

KOCHI: The Ernakulam District Private Bus Operators' Association (Chitoor region) has deplored the Transport Commissioner's order that Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) need not extend any services, including collection of tax, till speed governors are fitted in private buses.
