Thiruvananthapuram: An asepsis protocol is being introduced in SAT Hospital on Wednesday. The 700-odd staff members at the hospital, including doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff, will undergo training in asepsis routine during the month-long programme. Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy will inaugurate the programme on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the sanitation and sterilisation drive at the hospital continued on Tuesday. Four new nurses and 19 cleaning staff joined duty at the hospital. They will be inducted into the infection-prevention training programme. Fifteen additional security staff have been deployed at the hospital. There were 21 security personnel, including three women, for day duty. Some changes were introduced in the pass system following the feedback received from the public. The hospital authorities said the restrictions on visitors' entry were being strictly observed and there were fewer people inside the hospital than usual. The stay-pass is now being punched by the security staff to ensure that it is not passed on to people waiting outside and thereby misused. Any additional pass for those inside the hospital with the patient will be issued by the duty nurse.
