dated May 10, 1957: Erring drivers punished

Punishment in the form of cancellation of endorsement to drive public service vehicles was meted out to ten taxi drivers and two autorickshaw drivers by the Regional Transport Authority, Madras, after hearing complaints from the public. The offences included refusal to ply, demanding contract rates, putting up the meter flag even before engagement, taking circuitous route and impertinent behaviour.
