Corrections and Clarifications

The first sentence in "Buying time to no purpose" (Editorial, May 3, 2007) was: "As expected, President George Bush has vetoed a bill passed by both Houses of the U.S. Congress that enjoined him to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq from October 1, 2008 unless there was a dramatic improvement in the situation on the ground." The date proposed by the U.S. Congress for the beginning the withdrawal of troops is October 1, 2007 and the withdrawal is to be completed by "the next March".

A sentence in "Projects for [Kerala] Government's anniversary" (Thiruvananthapuram, May 3, 2007, page 1) was: "[The Kerala Chief Minister] Mr. Achuthanandan said the [Halcyon] palace was in possession of the Government ... ."A reader points out that the Palace gave up "government" long ago! It should have been "the palace was in the possession of the Government".
