Canon launches slew of new cameras

To open showroom in Delhi and Mumbai; company completes ten years in India

NEW DELHI: Canon India on Wednesday launched eight digital cameras and four digital video camcorders besides introducing one compact photo printer, three inkjet printers and laser printers each, one `all-in-one' and four projectors.

The new digital cameras with advanced image processors are priced between Rs. 7,995 and Rs. 25,995, while camcorders' prices range between Rs. 26,990 and Rs. 59,995.

The compact photo printer has been priced at Rs. 14,895, while the new printers comes with a price tag between Rs. 2,995 and Rs.9,995.

"Canon has just completed ten years of operations in India and we are now aiming to double our customer base to 20-lakhs in the next couple of years, by strengthening our after sales service and opening of company-owned showrooms in Delhi and Mumbai,'' Canon India President and CEO Kensaku Konishi said.

Stating that the company had decided to adopt more focused approach by specifically targeting top eight cities, Canon India Vice-President Alok Bharadwaj said the company had already tied up with 13 national retail chains to sell its digital cameras. "These tie-ups would take our retail sales to nearly eight per cent by this year-end,'' he said.
