Houston: Evander Holyfield will fight Lou Savarese on June 30 in El Paso, Texas, in his quest to capture another heavyweight boxing title. It will be the fourth bout in the four-time heavyweight champion's comeback bid. The 44-year-old Holyfield has won all three fights since returning from a two-year layoff, improving to 41-8 with two draws. His first comeback fight was a second-round knockout of Jeremy Bates in Dallas in August. He won a decision over Fres Oquendo in San Antonio in November. His latest win came in March when the fight against Vinny Maddalone was stopped in the third round because of a cut on his opponent's forehead. The 41-year-old Savarese, who began his professional boxing career in 1989 in Galveston, is 46-6 with 38 knockouts. Holyfield, who trains in Houston, said he's serious about getting another shot at the title and he won't take Savarese lightly. "I wouldn't be here in the gym if I was going to take him for granted," Holyfield said on Tuesday. "If I felt I could beat somebody and didn't have to work, you wouldn't see me here." AP
