CUDDALORE: Ancient copper coins, weighing over 15 kg, were unearthed from a private property on Narayanapillai Street at Chidambaram recently. A construction worker Kothandaraman (40) of Thunisiramedu detected it while digging the foundation and removed it on the sly. Later, he disposed of it at a pawnshop. When the property owner Mohan came to know of it on Tuesday he informed the authorities, who subsequently seized the coins from the pawnshop. Chidambaram Tahsildar Pattusamy and Revenue Divisional Officer Gunasekaran are conducting an enquiry.
