New Delhi: The month-long crackdown on unruly motorists in the Capital has not spared even the VIPs with the police booking former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma for using a red-beacon on his car to which he is not entitled. The Traffic Police have sent a notice to Verma asking him to explain as to why he was using a red-beacon on his car. "We have initiated the process in this regard and sent a notice to Verma. Further action will follow after receiving his reply," Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Qamar Ahmed said. Singh, a prominent BJP leader in the Capital is not an MP or MLA at present and is not entitled to use a beacon on his vehicle. Police had begun the crackdown on traffic violators last month following a court direction to the police to put in place a stringent traffic regime. PTI
