NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to Paramjeet Kaur, one of the accused in the trafficking case involving Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament Babubhai Katara. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau granted bail to Ms. Kaur on the condition that she would appear before the investigating officer every Monday in the morning hours.
The court also got her to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 1 lakh
The court asked Ms. Kaur to cooperate in the investigations by appearing before the officer as and when required by him.
In her bail plea, Ms. Kaur contended that she was not an accused but a victim as she was duped by Joginder Singh. She told the court that Joginder, brother-in-law of the alleged kingpin Kehar Singh, came to her house and took her passport claiming that he would procure a visa for her on genuine documents.
On May 4, when Mr. Katara and four other accused, including Ms. Kaur, were produced before the court, her counsel moved the bail plea.
