BHOPAL: Separate complaints have been filed with the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court alleging irregularities in management and administration of the entrance examination for the prestigious National Law Institute University at Bhopal. The examination, with centres across the country, was conducted by the State Professional Examination Board on Sunday for selecting 80 students for admission to the five-year B.A. L.L.B. (Honours) programme. In a complaint filed with the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Tuesday, Sachin Malhan, chief Executive of Law School Tutorials (LST), a leading tutorial service provider, has alleged that the questions were `leaked' and the same were submitted to the office of the Registrar R.K.S. Gautam on Saturday. The Registrar was also given a phone number that had been circulating in the student community.
Another complaint
In a separate complaint, Siddharth Gupta, Supreme Court advocate and NLIU alumnus, has alleged that many students had not been issued admission cards officially till the time of the examination. When the students enquired about the status of their admission cards, the concerned Board officer had allegedly told them to download it from the Board's website as an interim arrangement. He has further mentioned in his complaint that barely a few hours before the examination when some candidates fed their roll numbers into the website, they were shocked to see a message stating: "your application is rejected".
Issue taken up with Board
When contacted, the NLIU Registrar confirmed receiving complaints and said that the issue was taken up with the Board. He said a written communication had also been sent to the examination authority. Attempts were made to contact A.K. Shrivastava, Controller of Examinations, for his version but he refused to respond.
