Jawan held for assaulting woman

MAHARAJGANJ: A Central Reserve Police Force jawan has been arrested for allegedly trying to molest a housewife at Mujri village in the Paniara Assembly constituency in Maharajganj district late on Monday night.

According to the police, the jawan entered the house of Ravindra Singh at around 2-30 a.m. and tried to assault his wife. Following an altercation between the two, angry villagers arrived on the scene and thrashed the jawan, holding him captive till the arrival of the police. It was only after the arrest of the jawan belonging to the 52nd battalion of theCRPF that the people of Mujri village agreed to participate in the polling process .

Earlier on Monday another CRPF jawan and three others were arrested in Gorakhpur district for allegedly raping a minor.
